“Helping clients smoothly navigate a stressful process is what defines ‘success’ for me.”
Buying or selling a property is one of the biggest decisions of a lifetime. With a background in the financial services sector and a real-estate career spanning two decades, Ernie is uniquely poised to guide clients at all stages of their journey—from first-time homeowners to growing families and seniors. “A city market like Halifax has special value points to consider, and I can help clients step back and see the big picture,” he says.
Whether that big-picture perspective involves assessing the value of a waterfront property or meeting the needs of a downsizing couple seeking financial security, Ernie takes pride in finding solutions that work. In a competitive market, that could even mean advising clients not to pursue a deal if it veers away from their initial goals: “When I see that happening I tend to simply say, ‘We can do better.’ Those four words allow the buyers to sit back and re-focus without pressure.”
Ernie began his real-estate career at Domus in 1999 and is now Broker and co-owner. Perhaps the best testament to his dedication and people-focused approach is the long list of clients who’ve become friends, the families who refer their business across generations, and the new agents he’s mentored. “Our business is growing, and we’re committed to adding the best minds and ideas, and developing talent from within to carry us forward,” he says.
A dedicated volunteer in both his community and the real-estate industry, Ernie was named a Fellow of the Real Estate Institute of Canada in 2008, a designation that represents a high level of ethical and professional standards. He is also a certified Elder Planning Counselor.
In his downtime, Ernie enjoys downhill skiing, snowmobiling, and gathering with family and friends at the family cottage in his home province of P.E.I. If you stop by, you’re sure to be treated to a seafood feast with all the fixings and of course, a glass of your favourite beverage!
