Exciting News!

We are very excited to announce that we have chosen not one, not two, but THREE very worthy projects to receive funding this year from our A Home for Everyone fund. Last week we presented cheques to Phoenix House, Alice Housing, and Morris House (Metro Non-Profit Housing) totaling $29,000. As mentioned in previous posts, the money in our fund comes entirely from our agents, who donate a portion of their commissions. A volunteer panel made up of clients and community members reviews all applications received and decides where the funds will be allocated.

Sleep-Out for Change

On October 5, 2013 community leaders and CEOs will sleep out on the streets with the goal of raising $100,000 for Shelter Nova Scotia, an organization dedicated to ending homelessness in the region.  Domus Agent Meghan Laing is a director at Shelter Nova Scotia and will be joining other participants such as Mayor Mike Savage and Police Chief Jean-Michel Blais, sleeping outside with nothing more than a piece of cardboard and a sleeping bag to raise awareness and funds.

Beer and Beethoven on May 10, 2013!

Beer and Beethoven are two of the many delightful things we associate with German culture. As it turns out, Symphony Nova Scotia combines the two for their annual Beer and Beethoven fundraising party, and it is always a fun night!! If you haven’t already purchased tickets for this great event, you should visit their website now and get them before they’re gone – you won’t want to miss it! Click here to go to their site for more info.

Spring is almost here, can you believe it? We would like to take this time to remind everyone that applications for funding from the A Home for Everyone initiative is quickly approaching. If you haven’t heard about this initiative, you can get full details by clicking here.  Essentially, all of our agents contribute a portion of their income to a fund, and organizations working towards ending homelessness in the HRM can apply for a donation from the fund. A volunteer panel from the community reviews the applications and chooses a recipient.

Dancing for a Cause!

Love to dance? Enjoy live music? What if you could do both, while supporting local sport at the same time? If that sounds fun, then this is the event for you! You can dance the night away while helping the Nova Scotia Provincial Junior A Founders Lacrosse Team go the National Founders Tournament in Winnipeg this year. Click here for details!
